Hazel is what I consider a needle in a haystack- as a mare this special is very hard to find!  My first attraction to Hazel was her pedigree, as she is a sister to a very well-known pony- Murthwaite Look at Me!  Look at Me is one of the exceptional stallions of the modern Fell world, having been Supreme Champion stallion at the Fell Pony Society Stallion Show in 2002, 2003, and 2004.  I am also keen on her mother line, as her dam Murthwaite Queenie, though shown only sparingly, did well for herself (3rd Place Mares 9 & Over, Fell Pony Society Southern Breed Show 2001, even placing in the Intermediate Working Hunter Class!; and at Royal Bath & West Show 2000 was 2nd place M&M Pony 4 & Over (first place Fell), and 3rd Place Ridden Dales/Highland/Fell), and descends from a maternal line I was very familiar with- Foggy Gill, as my first Fell ever Corrennie Afton is a Foggy Gill mare.

I was lucky to have purchased Hazel as a trained mare.  As I began to work with her, I was thrilled to find that her capabilities as a riding pony were exceptional.  She adores children, loves a good trail ride, and has a lovely rocking-horse style canter.  She excels at dressage, and after showing under judge Lendon Gray, she was said by Judge Gray to be "a superstar of a pony"!

A mare that can offer a champion pedigree, a proven record as a broodmare, a lovely attitude in the stall, and is completely dependable in the saddle, should be priced well over $10,000.  I have Hazel priced at $7500 during the farm herd reduction sale, and in consideration of the injury she sustained as a young filly (Hazel lost her right eye in an accident).  She is a mare I will miss having on my farm very much.
